Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is music technology & innovation?

Music technology is more than just the tools that we use to create and experience music now - it's about the creation of new tools that will shape the future of musical experiences. Everyone in our program is passionate about creating the world we want to live in - and we strive to help our students access their inherent talents and creativity, and understand how knowledge of technology can become the tool they need to express their vision of the future of music.

How much about music & technology do I need to know to be qualified?

There is no requirement that you have a previous musical or a technical background, but most students come with some experience in one of those domains. Maybe you are passionate about music and curious about how the technology behind current musical tools work? Or you could be coming from a more technical background in eager to learn how you can use your existing knowledge to create a musical practice for yourself.

Is Creativitas a STEM or an Arts program?

Both! Fundamentally, we believe that innovation comes from fusing creativity with technical knowledge. In our program, you will gain experience with a broad range of technical skills, ranging from PCB and mechanical design to software programming. But the most important thing you will learn is how you can use STEM knowledge to explore your own personal creative impulses.

What will I learn in the Creativitas program?

The curriculum includes modules on electronics assembly, basic programming skills, and sound synthesis and audio recording. But it also includes lots of experience with the history of electronic music, how technology is used by contemporary music creators, and guidance to help you explore your own personal passion for music.

How will Creativitas impact my personal development?

Our goal with the Creativitas program is to demystify the process of both creating new technology and creating new music. You'll gain familiarity with lots of advanced techniques and research areas, just as importantly, you'll have asked yourself where your personal interests are driving you. At the end of the program, you will be in a position to see how technical knowledge and experience can help you fulfill your personalized vision for your future.
